Chris Pratt has shared a striking behind-the-scenes detail from his upcoming film Mercy, revealing that he personally requested to be locked into an executioner’s chair to make the scene feel as real as possible.
Speaking about the experience, Pratt said he wanted to fully understand the fear, vulnerability and emotional weight his character would face. By physically being restrained, he felt it helped him connect more deeply with the role and deliver a more authentic performance on screen.
Mercy is described as an intense, high-stakes thriller set in a near-future world where justice and technology collide. Pratt plays a man caught in a system that decides guilt and punishment through advanced surveillance and algorithms, raising questions about morality, free will and the cost of control.
The actor, known for balancing blockbuster roles with dramatic performances, said the film pushed him both physically and mentally. His commitment to realism, he added, was about respecting the story and giving audiences a more powerful, believable experience.
