Greenlanders have reacted with fear, frustration, and strong opposition following former US President Donald Trump’s renewed remarks about acquiring Greenland. Many residents and local leaders emphasized that the island is not for sale, calling the idea disrespectful to Greenland’s people, culture, and self-governance. The comments have revived concerns about sovereignty and external influence over the strategically important Arctic territory. Greenland’s officials reiterated that decisions about the island’s future rest solely with its citizens, rejecting any suggestion of foreign ownership or control.
