An Indian comedian recently became the target of a sophisticated scam in which fraudsters impersonated officials from FedEx and falsely claimed that a parcel linked to the comedian contained illegal drugs. The scammers reportedly contacted the victim through phone calls, warning of legal action and arrest unless immediate cooperation was provided.
According to reports, the fraudsters used fear and intimidation tactics, pretending to be courier representatives and law enforcement officers. They allegedly pressured the comedian into sharing personal information and following instructions under the guise of an “investigation.”
Cybercrime experts say such scams have become increasingly common, with criminals exploiting the names of trusted companies to create panic and manipulate victims. Authorities have advised the public to avoid sharing sensitive details over calls and to verify any suspicious claims directly through official customer support channels.
