Jennifer Lawrence says she didn’t require an intimacy coordinator on her new film because her co-star Robert Pattinson is “respectful” and “not creepy.”

Jennifer Lawrence is the latest actor to question the need for intimacy coordinators, revealing she turned down their assistance while filming Die My Love because she felt “completely safe” with her co-star, Robert Pattinson.

Intimacy coordinators became more common after the #MeToo movement to ensure actors’ comfort and safety during scenes involving nudity or sexual content. However, stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Sean Bean have criticized the practice, arguing that it can disrupt performance and creative flow.

Speaking on the Las Culturistas podcast while promoting Die My Love—in which she portrays a woman struggling with mental turmoil after childbirth—Lawrence explained: “We didn’t have an intimacy coordinator, or maybe we did, but not really. I just felt really safe with Rob.”

She added: “He’s not pervy and he’s very much in love with Suki [Waterhouse]. Most of our conversations were about our kids and relationships. There was never any awkwardness, like, ‘Does he think I like him?’”

Lawrence went on to say that if there had been any hint of discomfort, she would have wanted an intimacy coordinator present. “A lot of male actors get offended if you don’t want to sleep with them, and then they act out. Rob wasn’t like that at all,” she said.

Her comments come shortly after IMDb announced that intimacy coordinators will now receive official credit listings, alongside roles such as choreography and craft services. Despite this, some prominent actors continue to dismiss the need for the role. Lawrence’s view echoes that of Jennifer Aniston, who recently shared that she also declined an intimacy coordinator while filming scenes with Jon Hamm for The Morning Show.
