British tennis star Emma Raducanu has voiced frustration over the Australian Open’s match scheduling, saying parts of it “don’t make sense” and place unnecessary strain on players.
Raducanu pointed to late-night finishes and uneven recovery time between matches, suggesting the schedule can disadvantage players who are required to compete again with limited rest. She said the physical and mental demands of back-to-back matches become more challenging when recovery windows are inconsistent.
The former US Open champion acknowledged that scheduling a Grand Slam is complex, but stressed that player welfare should remain a priority. Long matches extending past midnight, followed by early next-day commitments, can increase injury risk and affect performance, she noted.
