Tensions flared once again along the Thailand–Cambodia border as the Thai military launched air operations in response to fresh clashes between the two sides. According to early reports, the confrontation resulted in the death of at least one person, further escalating a long-running territorial dispute that has periodically turned violent.
The latest fighting is believed to have been triggered by skirmishes involving ground forces stationed near the contested border zone. Thailand’s decision to deploy air power marks a significant escalation, signalling the seriousness of the situation and the risk of broader conflict if tensions are not contained.
Both countries have traded accusations over who initiated the violence. Meanwhile, civilians living near the border are facing renewed uncertainty as authorities warn them to stay alert for possible evacuations. Regional observers fear that unless diplomacy resumes quickly, the clashes could destabilize an already fragile area.
