U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a 37-year-old woman, identified as Renee Nicole Good, during a federal immigration enforcement operation in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. The incident occurred in a residential neighbourhood near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue amid a large-scale crackdown ordered by the Trump administration Federal officials, including the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), said the agent fired in self-defense after claiming the woman attempted to “weaponize” her vehicle against officers. Video footage and statements from local authorities have challenged that account, with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey calling the government’s version a “garbage narrative” and disputing that officers were in imminent danger
