Ten years after winning the Australian Open at Melbourne Park, Victoria Azarenka will meet Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina in one of the two night women's semifinal matches. In the other, unseeded Magda Linette will compete against No. 5 seed Aryna Sabalenka. Azarenka, who is now 33, won the Australian Open in 2012 and 2013, but she hasn't advanced to the final four since. Sofia Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open champion, Madison Keys, and No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula were all defeated by Azarenka en route to her first semifinal appearance in a Grand Slam competition since the 2020 U.S. Open. Danielle Collins, a finalist from the previous year, and Iga Swiatek, ranked first, are among Rybakina's victories this year.In their lone prior encounter, Rybakina defeated Azarenka in straight sets in the third round of the Indian Wells tournament in 2017. In both of their prior encounters, including the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Sabalenka prevailed against Linette.
